Scope games, regions and commentary
Define the league or tournament, dated games, target regions and commentary languages in the enquiry. Coverage can vary by fixture and region; a basketball competition name is not a blanket availability or licensing commitment.
Separate the scheduled tip-off from the feed start and stop window. Include warm-up coverage if required and agree how breaks, delayed starts and overtime are handled. A schedule ending at an estimated finishing time can cut off a game that runs long.
Inspect motion and scoreboard readability
Basketball playback should be evaluated during fast transitions, close-ups and wide court shots. Inspect the game clock, shot clock and score at your actual player size. A high nominal resolution does not by itself guarantee readable overlays or smooth motion.
Check the delivered frame rate, encoder behaviour and dropped frames on representative phones and desktop players. Test audio alignment and changes in commentary tracks. Compare results under the same device and network conditions rather than comparing two unrelated demo clips.

Keep event data and video distinct
If the app shows scores beside the player, associate the data event and video feed using stable identifiers. Confirm quarter numbering, overtime representation and how suspended or finished games are labelled in the agreed data contract.
Score updates and video may arrive at different times. Define whether to delay the score display, show a spoiler warning or leave the two timelines independent. Do not describe real-time data as synchronised to the video without measuring both paths.
Evaluate overlapping games and reconnects
Use the busiest planned game window to size concurrent delivered feeds. Viewer counts, CDN egress and stream concurrency must be estimated separately. Confirm how additional games, fallback URLs and private ingest credentials are provisioned.
Test a network interruption and reconnection in a controlled evaluation. Check whether the player can obtain a refreshed playback URL and recover the correct game. Avoid a retry loop that continues after the game is finished or the evaluation access expires.
Record acceptance and commercial boundaries
Send the game list, usage regions, player stack, concurrency, commentary and test window with your enquiry. Record picture, start-up, buffering, reconnection and audio results with timestamps. Agree the acceptance thresholds and support escalation route before committing.
Confirm the contracting entity, pricing basis, bandwidth responsibilities and required playback or distribution rights. Technical delivery does not include copyright licensing, and an available feed is not proof of permission to redistribute it.
